Math Tutor for Hire?

If anyone is needing help with math for their child, Kevin is the tutor for you! He has 8 years experience working with junior high/high school aged students as a math tutor (but can help at any grade level). He is patient and knowledgable when working with his students. He is able to explain concepts in a simple concise manner, using real life applications, thus allowing his students to grasp difficult problems easily. He is available most afternoons after 4 pm.

Any Extras?

Does anyone have any empty 10 pound cans(silver food storage cans)just laying around that I could have to use for decorations for our ward Halloween party? They will be painted and stored for next year (so only volunteer yours if you don't care if you get them back). I am looking for 10 or 11 more.

Craft Day in November

To anyone who is interested,

There are a few of us who would like to do a Craft Day and make some things for ourselves or as gifts for the upcoming holiday season.  We can only manage to do 3-4 things, but I have about 10 ideas.  Anyone who can come by my house Thursday or Friday between 3:30-8:00PM can vote on the ideas.  I will have a little display of items or pictures and would love a vote on what everyone would be interested in doing.  I know Thursday is the "Sisters at the Well" group--come before or on Friday.  Please feel free to bring your kids as Cade is always willing to play.  Hope to see you there.

Dave and I would like to say THANK YOU to anyone and everyone who helped us in anyway with our move.  So many people came through, especially at the last minute, that we are flooded with gratitude.  So, as Shakespeare said, "Thanks and Thanks!!"  (I added the exclamation pts.)

 

This is an email I just received

I pledge allegiance to our flag. I do NOT pledge myself to be a servant to Obama.
This YouTube clip is a primer for what children across our country will be shown in schools next Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009. In it, they DO say some good things. However, every now and then, they stick in a comment/pledge that makes me cringe or say, "Huh?" For example, "I pledge to get rid of my obnoxious car and get a hybrid." Really? Is my car THAT offensive? The most disturbing part of this primer for me is the way it ends. To me, it rings of Hitler and his indoctrination of the German youth in his day. At first, I was planning on sending my kids to school that day, explain what was going on and then discuss it after they get home. After seeing this, I'm seriously considering keeping them home that day and just make it a 4 day weekend. You CAN watch it on the internet from your home if you want. OK, time for me to get down off my soapbox. Click on the link below and make your own decision.





I just called my kids' school (DW Long) and the secretary told me that it is her understanding that whether or not Obama's speech is shown in my children's classes is up to their teacher's discretion. I'll be asking each of them at back to school night tonight.
