I got Thursday Night off, so GNO is still on at my house. If anyone has a favorite game, bring it! Who's in charge of "Skyping" Amy in?? Can't wait!

P.S. Sam is making pasta and his famous sauce, so could 2 people bring salad, 2 people bring desserts, and then everyone else bring whatever?

April 1st Party

So I checked out the weather for next week and it looks perfect for a park date. So I was thinking we could either have a breakfast or lunch party at Rosena Park on Wednesday to celebrate April Fools Day. Anyone up for the fun? If so do you prefer breakfast or lunch time?

Twilight Time!!

Hey girls. I'm hosting a" Twilight" party next week on Thursday, the 26th. I will probably start the show at 8:00pm, but you are welcome to come earlier. I was thinking any time after 7:00pm. If you'd like to bring a snack to share, that would be awesome! For those of you who are Edward-loving freaks like me, this is a much anticipated night. Feel free to invite friends. Just drop me an e-mail so I will have enough snack food for everyone. sjmcewan@yahoo.com
Nursing babies welcome! Hope to see you all there. Suzy
The park last night was very fun!
WE SHOULD DO THIS ALL SPRING AND SUMMER FOR F.H.E!
When I was growing up my ward would do 2 Mondays a month at a park for F.H.E.  I have very fond memories of these experiences.  I think we should meet every other week or so starting in April or May.  What do you think?

It's a......BOY!!!

So, it's been a crazy day! I had an AFP drawn last week and kind of forgot about it because it was negative with Luke and I wasn't worried about it. My Dr's office called today and said it was positive for Downs Syndrome and they made me an appt to go see a geneticist on Wednesday. I knew there is a high false positive rate with the AFP's, but I was worried nonetheless. I had an OB apt. today and I thought she was finally going to tell us what the gender was, but she didn't do an ultrasound. After all this, I was so disappointed! I wanted to at least find out what we were having! The good thing about this appointment was she told me the false positive rate on this test is 70%! So, chances are we'll have a healthy baby. I was so upset about not finding out what we were having I went on a major Ultrasound search on the internet; made appointments in Riverside, Newport, etc. until I found a place in Rancho. I called and pleaded for them to do it tonight and they did! The baby looks really good and healthy, all the parts are there....even the little boy parts! We're so excited!
JUST A REMINDER:  Money for the Family Memory Game on DeeDee's Designs is due this Sunday March 15th.

Thanks!  Dawn
I need 8 baby food jars--does anyone have any I can have?  I am using them for the sunbeams on Sunday.  Thanks!  Dawn

Warehouse Sale

The company my brother-in-law works for is having a Warehouse Sale. They will have items from Dorel, Safety First and Cosco. It's a great place to get baby gear for a really cheap price. If you need a new stroller or carseat, this is a good place to look. My friend got a nice Eddie Bauer wooden high chair there last year for 30 or 40 dollars. You can also find things like card tables or ladders. I think they're mostly items that the packaging is damaged or outdated. Some things might be overstock. The flyer says they'll have, "baby items, home furniture, tables & chairs, ladders and much more." I think it's worth going over there to see what they have.
Warehouse Sale
March 20 - 22

Healthy Habits Challenge

Any takers? Email me if you want to participate!

You have been challenged live the following habits for the next 12 weeks! The idea of the Healthy Habits Challenge is to motivate each other to develop 10 healthy lifestyle habits.

To participate you score yourself "on your honor" every day and then each week send in the number of points you have earned to me. I'll send out a weekly email with point totals for all participants. You can earn up to 10 points per day. Sundays are days off- you get to take a break with no points earned/lost. The person with the most points in the end wins a small prize! (C'mon- do I look like I'm made of money?)

The competition runs March 9 - May 30. Let me know if you plan to participate by emailing me by March 7th. I'll send out more information to the "contenders".

Daily Habits (1 point each)
1. 7 hours of sleep (not necessarily consecutive--naps count too)
2. 30 minutes of exercise (not necessarily consecutive)
3. No sweets/unhealthy snacks
4. 64 oz. of water
5. 3 servings of veggies, 2 servings of fruit
6. No soda
7. No eating after 8:00 PM
8. 15 minutes of scripture reading
9. One journal entry in the journal type of your choice (personal, blog, etc.)
10. Choose you own habit (flossing, prayer, service, etc.)

For those of you who are pregnant or nursing:
You may eat after 8 pm if you have an extra serving of fruit or vegetables that day.

GOOD LUCK!

PS- I did this about a year ago and it was a very good, challenging experience. I may have complained here and there (I'm hoping you all have very short memories), but it ended up really being a good thing for me. Obviously enough that I want to do it again. The friend who sent out the challenge did it to lose weight and she lost 10 lbs. I did this as I trained for a marathon (so I figured I'd get the exercise in "easy") and it to see how disciplined I could be- it was a challenge and it changed my perspective on a lot of things. I'm sure glad for the weeks of journal entries. If you end up doing it we'll have to talk at the end of the 12 weeks!

Time Out Life Seminar

A friend told me about this and i thought it sounded interesting. Time Out for Women is doing an online seminar- it's like taking an online college class with some great teachers and topics. The class schedule for this semester is Sheri Dew teaching "The Divine Gift of Influence", Wendy Watson Neslon "Change Your Questions, Change Your Life", and S. Michael Wilcox "What the Scriptures Teach us about Raising a Child".

Go here to learn more!

MARCH | Sheri Dew
The Divine Gift of Influence

Sheri Dew knows a thing or two about influence. Though her life experiences have taken her around the globe in government, business and religious circles, she has learned where real influence lies—in the lives and homes of righteous women of God. After many years of study & observation, Sheri presents sixteen principles that will help you better understand what influence really is and how to have more of it. If you truly want to “take a step from where you are to where you want to be”, this kick-off seminar is the place you’ll want to start.

APRIL | Wendy Watson Nelson
Change Your Questions, Change Your Life!

The questions we ask ourselves, others and the Lord significantly influence the kind of lives we create. Questions are powerful. They can motivate or they can demoralize. They can increase our ability to solve problems or they can make situations worse. Some questions actually become the problem while other questions bring about change when everything else has failed.

Do you want better relationships? Ask better questions! Do you want a great life? Learn to ask great questions. In this webinar Dr. Wendy Watson Nelson will teach the power of questions; how certain kinds of questions help us and others hinder us; and how to ask more useful, more powerful questions. Questions that can change your relationships. Questions that can change your life.

MAY | S. Michael Wilcox
What the Scriptures Teach Us about Raising a Child

Perhaps one of the most loved teachers of scripture, S. Michael Wilcox presents powerful life applications that can improve the way you parent. Taken from his own personal experience as a father (now grandfather), Michael draws upon the lessons from the perfect handbook—the scriptures. Sharing material not yet published, you’ll enjoy a look at many not-so-well-known scripture stories that teach transforming principles for parents at any stage of raising a child.

Camping at Leo Carrillo

We are going camping to Leo Carrillo State Park (near Malibu) on September 17-19. If you want to come, check out this site and make your reservations!

It is $25/ night plus a $7.50 booking fee. There is a max. of 8 people per site, so some families can get together and share a site. We don't get to reserve a specific site- those are first come first serve- so if you do make reservations please email me so I can keep a list. We'll see how many sites we can get together when we get there. (No promises!)

These sites go up for sale six months in advance and usually fill up. If you want to go I would try to get reservations as soon as you can.

"The park has 1.5 miles of beach for swimming, surfing, windsurfing, surf fishing and beachcombing. The beach also has tide pools, coastal caves and reefs for exploring. Giant sycamores shade the main campgrounds. The park also features back-country hiking."
